Dear Reader,

Thanks for taking the time to visit this blog, can’t wait to share my passion for politics through blogging. What I often hear is that politics is boring, biased, and divisive, so I hope to offer a fun and relaxed approach to politics and to reach a wider audience, such as through instagram. Some of the blog posts will have a corresponding one minute vlog, so you can choose to read or listen to my analysis of political events. Though I have been passionate for politics for nearly ten years now, what prompted me to share my writing was the Air Ethiopia plane crash that happened last month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

It affected me because I knew one of the 18 Canadians who passed away in the accident.  Dr. Pius Adesanmi was a scholar who left behind a legacy, which made me wonder: what was I doing with my life, and how I could add value to others like he did? I admired not just his accomplishments, but his soul as well because he was kind and friendly. It made me wonder how I would be remembered, and would I be proud of the person I was and the life I lived?

The second reason is because I want to show the audience that we should not be numb or indifferent to tragedies that happen in a land far away, because it could have happened to anyone, like the professor I knew, or someone you might have known, like me. I did research in Addis Ababa four years ago, sharing the same space but in different moments in time (see travel pictures here). We felt the same beating sun, stood on the same red African soil, and left from the same airport too.

I want to mourn a tragedy but celebrate life too, and write in remembrance of Dr. Pius Adesanmi and the others who passed away. Because we are merely guests on this planet, and if we are lucky, get to cross paths and exchange stories. I think we have so much to learn from each other, and that we all have strengths that can add value to the world. It’s never too late to start or share a passion.
