Vancouver roots, Ottawa soul. BA Political Science, MA European and Russian Studies. I analyze national politics in Canada in addition to my specialties: the natural resource sector and the geographic region of Russia and Central Asia. I strive to write more analytical content than newspaper articles but still accessible to a mainstream audience.

I’m multilingual with experience traveling to 20 countries (mostly alone) with experience doing academic field research in Africa and Central Asia. I researched military security at the undergraduate level when I was in Ethiopia, and utilized those research methodologies afterward in grad school, where I researched Kazakhstan on the natural resource industry.

When I’m not thinking about government and politics, my hobbies include reading, listening to music, spending time with friends, and being active (nature walks, yoga, cultural Japanese and Eastern European Gypsy dancing, and soccer). There is also a section called ‘Pictures & Poetry’, if you are interested in my photography and creative writing. I don’t blog anymore, but showcase my writing here as my portfolio.

I created this blog in memory of Professor Dr. Pius Adesanmi after the Air Ethiopia plane crash in March 2019. We shared an office space when I was a TA. I realized that life is short, so I try to be happy and live my life freely and passionately every day. What about you- what makes you happy?
